Capacitors for electric motors are designed to operate in alternating current circuits of 230Vac 50Hz. They are mainly used in single-phase motors, as well as three-phase motors powered by single-phase current. Run capacitors are capacitors intended for continuous operation together with the motor to improve the power factor (cos phi). In three-phase motors powered from a single-phase network, the capacitor provides the presence of the third phase.
The capacitor dielectric is made of metallized polypropylene film. The capacitor winding is enclosed in a housing made of flame-retardant plastic. To isolate the winding from external conditions, it is filled with bio-resin. Capacitors are produced with various types of terminals.
