The TR-6 damper prevents "drafting" through the chimney and overheating of the boiler by regulating the chimney draft. What exactly does this mean??? In coal dust boilers, where a blower is used to support the combustion process, the effect of drafting through the chimney the temperature set on the controller occurs quite often, i.e. we set the boiler to, for example, 60 degrees, the temperature is reached, the controller turns off the blower and the temperature... RISES!!! Air is sucked into the boiler through the blower inlet!!!
The set includes 2 gaskets and 2 sets of screws with nuts to ensure secure and tight installation of the damper.
What then???
Even the best and most expensive controller cannot cool down the boiler - in such a case it is powerless!!! The boiler burns faster, less economically.
Therefore, a CHIMNEY DRAFT REGULATOR should be installed. The principle of operation is very simple, the regulator opens only when the blower is working. If the blower is not working, the regulator closes by itself, without electricity, batteries, etc. It has a mechanical counterweight that always causes it to close!!!
How to check if your boiler needs such a regulator???
Some readers of this description already know they need such a regulator because they have problems maintaining the set temperature on the boiler. For those who want to check - turn off the controller so that the blower stops, light, for example, a lighter and hold it near the blower where it draws in air. A regulator will be needed if the flame is blown out by the air being drawn in or if the flame noticeably flickers.
